Full color, about 17 by 23 inches.  Detailed state and county map with each township differently colored, showing landforms, cities and towns, rail and stage routes.    Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different decorative border.   The earlier editions may also include vignettes around the map.   Hand colored lithograph.   $185

Samuel Augustus Mitchell, Map of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North & South Carolina, c. 1875. About 10 1/2 by 8 inches. An attractive small state map Maryland, Virginia, North & South Carolina. This maps also includes names of rivers, rail lines, roads, mountains, cities and towns.  This map was originally from a school atlas from the period.  Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different coloring to the one pictured.  Hand colored lithograph.  $35

Printed color, about 13 1/2 by 20 1/2 inches.  Shows landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns.   Family atlases by George Cram were very popular with the  American family in the late 1800's.  Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different coloring.    $35

Rand McNally, 1895-1911, South Carolina. Printed color, about 9 1/4 by 12 1/4 inches. A detailed map depicting landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns.  No road system is shown as yet.  The rail system evidences its importance.     An index is included (not shown in the picture) on the left and right margin. The technology used  to develop this map was so advanced that it made all similar maps obsolete.   $25

Matthew Northrup's Century Atlas, 1897-1911, South Carolina.    Printed color, about 10 1/2 by 15 inches. A very fine "modern" looking map with a "piano key" border. The map depicts landforms, including contours showing elevations above sea level. Includes counties, rail lines, roads, cities and towns.    Included is an inset of Charleston and vicinity.  These are superb maps for accuracy and detail.  A map of choice for many collectors. $45
