Samuel Augustus Mitchell, c.1860, County Map of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware. Hand colored, about 10 1/2 by 13 inches. This is a handsome map of the Mid-Atlantic area. The map includes two insets, one of the city of Philadelphia and one of the city of Baltimore. The map is attractively colored and is a wonderful example of decorative map making. Mitchell's maps from this series are some of the more attractive maps from this period. This map is enhanced with a decorative "garland" of flowers which provides a handsome border, making this an especially attractive map. Each county identified and separately colored. Shows cities, towns, rails and landforms. Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different decorative border to the one pictured. $125

Hand colored, about 10 1/2 by 8 inches. An attractive small state map. This map also includes
names of rivers, rail lines, roads, mountains, cities and towns. This map
was originally from a school atlas from the period. Different editions of
the identical map may have a slightly different coloring to the one
pictured. $35
George Cram, 1886, Pennsylvania. The map is in printed color. It measures about 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 inches and is a detailed county map depicting landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns. Maps such as these came from the first widely used atlases published for family use in America. Different editions are slightly differently colored. Later editions are in full color. $25
Rand McNally, c. 1900, Pennsylvania. Printed color, about 12 1/2 by 9 1/4 inches. A detailed map depicting landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns. Also includes a table on the left and right of the map of land area, counties and chief cities. The technology used to develop this map was so advanced as to make all other similar maps obsolete. $25

Philadelphia, PA, Samuel Augustus Mitchell, c.1860. Colored, about 11 by 12 3/4 inches. A city plan naming the streets of Philadelphia, important buildings, the Delaware river, rail lines as well as a small portion of Camden. The map's colors differ slightly form the image that we have pictured. The map coloring is slightly lighter than what is shown. Mitchell's maps are some of the more attractive maps from this period, this map is enhanced with a decorative "garland" of flowers which provides a handsome border, making this an especially attractive map. $115

Pittsburgh and Allegheny City. George Cram, 1890, Printed color, about 12 1/2 by 18 1/4. A detailed street plan naming streets, rails, buildings and important sites. Family atlases by Cram were universally in use, in the USA, in the late 1800's. This is a very nice mid size map. $55
Reading, Walling and Gray, 1872. Hand colored, about 13 1/2 by 10 3/4 inches. A detailed street plan naming streets, buildings and important sites. Maps of Reading are uncommon. $65
