Full color, about 17 by 23 inches.  Detailed state and county map with each township differently colored, showing landforms, cities and towns, rail and stage routes.    Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different decorative border.   The earlier editions may also include vignettes around the map.   Hand colored lithograph.   $135


  Samuel Augustus Mitchell, c. 1864, North and South Carolina.  Handsome in full color, about 10 1/2 by 13 inches. Decorative floral border, surrounds a handsome map showing counties, rivers, mountains, cities, and rail.   Mitchell's maps from this series are some of the more attractive maps from this period.   Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different decorative border to the one pictured.  Hand colored lithograph.  $195

    George Cram, 1884-1899, North Carolina. Printed color, about 13 by 9 inches. A map depicting landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns. . A detailed and interesting map. Cram's family atlases were very popular with American families in the late 1800's.   Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different coloring.  Later editions are fully colored.  Pictured here is the vary early 1884 edition.  $35


Rand McNally, 1895-1811, North Carolina.  Printed color, about 9 1/4 by 12 1/2 inches. A detailed map depicting landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns. Also includes a table (not included in the picture) on the left and right of the map of land area, counties and chief cities.  The technology used to develop this map was so advanced that it made all other similar maps obsolete. $25


Matthew Northrup's Century Atlas, 1897-1911,  North Carolina.  Printed color, about 10 1/2 by 15 inches. A very fine "modern" looking map.  Printed color, about 15 by 10 1/2 inches. A very fine "modern" looking map with a "piano key" border. The map depicts landforms, including contours showing elevations above sea level. Includes counties, rail lines, roads, cities and towns.   These are superb maps for accuracy and detail.  A map of choice for many collectors.   $45
