Samuel Augustus Mitchell, c. 1867, North Western America, (Alaska). (1) Handsome in full hand color, about 11 1/2 by 13 3/4 inches. Decorative floral border, surrounds a handsome map showing rivers, mountains, and cities. Mitchell's maps from this series are some of the more attractive maps from this period, this map is enhanced with a decorative "garland" of leaves which provides a handsome border, making this an especially attractive map. Different editions of the identical map may have a slightly different decorative border. $225
(2) The 1860 and similar early editions show present day Alaska as Russian territory. These are seldom available, so we recommend that you place your name on the waiting list for this map. $425
George Cram, c.1884-1899, Alaska. The map shown is full printed color. It measures about 12 by 20 inches and is a detailed map depicting landforms, counties, rail road lines, cities and towns. Different editions are slightly differently colored. Family atlases by George Cram were extremely popular with the American family in the late 1800's. $45
A. L. Smith, 1894, Alaska. Full color, about 14 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches. A county and township map showing mountains, rivers, towns, cities and rails. Smith purchased the Mitchell map business so this map is printed from a Mitchell updated plate to reflect the period (1894). The map is similar to Mitchell's map (see above) except it has no decorative border. $65
Rand McNally, c. 1895-1911, Alaska.
The 1895 edition is usually available. Printed
color, about 12 1/2 by 9 1/4 inches. A detailed map depicting landforms, counties, rail
road lines, cities and towns. Also includes a table on the left and right of the map of
land area, counties and chief cities. The technology used to develop these maps was so advanced that they
made all competitors maps obsolete. $25

Matthew Northrup's Century Atlas, 1897-1911,
Alaska. Printed color, about 10 1/2 by 15 inches. A very fine "modern"
looking map with a "piano key" border. The map depicts landforms, including
contours showing elevations above sea level. Includes counties, rail lines, roads, cities
and towns. Includes inset the Aleutian Islands. One of the first maps to correctly map and
identify the mountains. A map of choice for many collectors. $45
(The map is a uniform green color. The line at center of the picture is created from joining two scans)
Dodd Meade and Company, c. 1903, Alaska. Printed color, about 8 1/4 by 10 1/4 inches. A very "modern" looking map with excellent detail. The map depicts landforms and includes counties, rail lines, cities and towns. $15
