Willem Janzoons Blaeu, 1625, Paraguvay,o Prov, De Rio De La Plata cum regionibus adiacentibus Tvcvman et S.ta Cruz De La Sierra.  Original outline color, about 14 1/2 by 18 3/4 inches. Covers the northern half of present day Argentina, all of Uruguay and Paraguay, the central and lower part of Bolivia, and the northern part of Chile,  The adjoining (lower) part of Brazil is almost totally obscured with a large and very decorative title cartouche which also incorporates two scales.  The Andes and a non existent east/west range of mountains between the Rio de la Plata and the Andes are shown.   The size of the rivers and tributaries is much exaggerated, but geographically surprisingly correct.  Several  large and non-existent lakes are shown in the Chaco region.  Lake Mirim in Uruguay is also very exaggerated.  Good detail of coastal landforms with the more prominent being named.  Very few towns and settlements are shown.  An important early map of the area.   $775

A wonderful map of the northern part of Argentina, all of Uruguay and Paraguay, and southern Brazil.  The map extends from the the Rio de La Plata to the Pacific coast. Includes three decorative cartouches.  Shows cities, towns, mountains, rivers, and other early information and includes two ships. The condition is excellent. $550

Antonio Zatta, 1785, Il Paraguai e parte dei Paesi Adiacenti.  Outline color, about 12 3/4 by 17 3/4 inches. A strongly engraved map of the present day northern parts of Argentina and the Chaco region, Uruguay, and Paraguay and the adjoining parts of southern Brazil.  The map extends west from the Patagonian border to just short of the Andes.  Includes a decorative title cartouche  presented in a vignette showing a decorative ship in a lagoon with a beehive hut, wooden cases and barrels, a hill and vegetation.  An excellent early portrayal of the area.  Shows cities, towns, mountains, rivers, and other early information.. The condition is excellent. $210
