Willem Janzoons Blaeu, 1625, Paraguvay,o Prov, De Rio De La Plata cum regionibus adiacentibus Tvcvman et S.ta Cruz De La Sierra. Original outline color, about 14 1/2 by 18 3/4 inches. Covers the northern half of present day Argentina, all of Uruguay and Paraguay, the central and lower part of Bolivia, and the northern part of Chile, The adjoining (lower) part of Brazil is almost totally obscured with a large and very decorative title cartouche which also incorporates two scales. The Andes and a non existent east/west range of mountains between the Rio de la Plata and the Andes are shown. The size of the rivers and tributaries is much exaggerated, but geographically surprisingly correct. Several large and non-existent lakes are shown in the Chaco region. Lake Mirim in Uruguay is also very exaggerated. Good detail of coastal landforms with the more prominent being named. Very few towns and settlements are shown. An important early map of the area. $775
Allard/Blaue, 1690, Paraqvaria Vulgo Paragvay. Bright full color, about 17 3/4 by 21 1/2 inches. A wonderful map of the northern part of Argentina, all of Uruguay and Paraguay, and southern Brazil. The map extends from the Rio de La Plata to the Pacific coast. Includes three decorative cartouches. Shows cities, towns, mountains, rivers, and other early information and includes two ships. The condition is excellent. $550
Antonio Zatta, 1785, Il Paraguai e parte dei Paesi Adiacenti. Outline color, about 12 3/4 by 17 3/4 inches. A strongly engraved map of the present day northern parts of Argentina and the Chaco region, Uruguay, and Paraguay and the adjoining parts of southern Brazil. The map extends west from the Patagonian border to just short of the Andes. Includes a decorative title cartouche presented in a vignette showing a decorative ship in a lagoon with a beehive hut, wooden cases and barrels, a hill and vegetation. An excellent early portrayal of the area. Shows cities, towns, mountains, rivers, and other early information.. The condition is excellent. $210
John Dower, 1832, Chile and La Plata. Uncolored, about 8 1/4 by 10 inches. Includes "Banda Oriental" (Uruguay), and Paraguay. Primarily a map of northern Argentina. Extends south to include all of Chile. Extremely well detailed for such an early map, showing cities, towns, settlements and landforms. Some light centerfold browning as well as overall toning. $25
J. Greenleaf, 1840, Buenos Ayres, Chili & Patagonia (Argentina). Uncolored, about 12 1/4 by 10 3/4 inches. Fully hand colored, lithographed map. Primarily a map of Argentina. The area identified as "Beunos Ayres" (northern half of present day Argentina) includes Paraguay and Uruguay in its boundaries. Buenos Ayres is divided into several provinces while Patagonia is not. Extremely well detailed for such an early map, showing cities, towns, settlements and landforms. An interesting time in Argentina's history. $75
Colton Family, 1855, Patagonia, together with South Orkney, Falkland Islands and South Georgia Island. The page has been divided in half and Patagonia is at left and the other half is further divided in three with the remaining three maps tin that half. Fully hand colored, about 14 1/2 by 1/1 3/4 inches. Primarily a map of Patagonia with the other smaller maps as a secondary focus. The extent to which this area was unexplored in detail is well reflected. Coastal information is good. The interior is very sparse. Shows towns, settlements and landforms. A well presented and attractive map with a decorative border. $70

A very attractive map showing Chile and La Plata and including five vignettes of Travelling Post, the Gobernador, Rattle Snake, The Grand Square, Beunos Ayres, and Water Seller of Buenos Ayres. A nicely detailed map showing landforms, rivers, important towns, and cities. Tallis maps are sought after by collectors due to their accuracy, ornamental borders and vignette views. This map is no exception with five vignettes and a very ornamental border. The map is finely engraved with excellent detail of counties, cities, towns and landforms. $95
