We are pleased to offer a selection of limited editon, reprinted maps, by Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598), first printed and published in 1606, English Edition.  The maps that we are offering are from a very scare reprint, published in 1968.  Each map is one of only  800 printed. These maps are handsome and completely faithful to the the originals. When nicely framed these maps will be a conversation point and enhance your home or office.

Abraham Ortelius is credited with publishing the first atlas in the form of a uniform collection of maps with accompanying text, engraved specifically for this purpose, and bound as a book.  He is recognized as a genius in the field of cartography, and each map is a wonderful example of his genius.  In 1570 he published the first edition which was an instant success, being the most expensive, but also the best selling book produced in the second half of the 16th century.  About 7500 atlases were published and sold.

Each map is stunningly engraved, handsomely decorated, appropriately with cartouches, compasses, ships, sea monsters, beautiful calligraphy from on of the most handsome atlases ever produced.
