Abraham Ortelius, 1612 Helvetiae (Switzerland) Descriptio Aegidio Tschvdo Avct. Handsome in original full color, about 13 1/2 by 18 inches. A map of Switzerland with South at the top and North at the bottom. In other words, an "upside" down map. Unusu, but very charming. The map is based on Aegidius Tschudi's earlier map. About 7300 were printed of which few remain today. Includes a handsome title cartouche at top right and a scale at lower left. Excellent detail, including cities and towns, forests and landforms. A wonderful map. $1,095

Mercator/Blaue, c.1630, Helvetia (Switzerland) . Original full color, about 15 1/4 by 19 3/4 inches.  A folio size map which is nicely detailed. It shows the cantons, with a title cartouche at top left and scale with two figures in bottom right.  Excellent detail including, towns and cities, forests and landforms.  A nice map that will be outstanding when framed. $550

 


G. Le Rouge, 1740, Switzerland.  Outline color, with each Canton highlighted.  About 7 3/4 by 10 1/2 inches. An early smaller map with a vignette in the upper left, title upper right, a pair of scales at lower right and text relative to Switzerland at lower left.  The map depicts landforms and includes cantons, landforms, cities and towns. Cartouche includes the armorial shields of all the cantons. A separate table and scale are also provided. Excellent detail including, towns and cities, forests and landforms. An ink smudge in central area. A handsome map. $295


Robert Du Vaugondy, Carte De La Republique Des Suisses (Switzerland)Outline color, about 19 by 23 1/2 inches, A nicely detailed, large map of Switzerland showing the cantons, with a large decorative title cartouche at top left and a set of six scales at bottom right.  In addition, the two remaining corners have boxes with additional information relating to the cantons and Switzerland in general.   Excellent detail including, towns and cities, forests and landforms.   A very attractive map,  $395
