 Abraham Ortelius, 1573, Zelandicarvm Insvlarvm Exactissima Et Nova Descriptio.  This map is in original hand color, about 13 1/4 by 18 1/4  inches.  This is a very handsome map of the southern most coastal region of Holland. This is a very decorative map with many wonderful features.  Please note that the glare on the image is due to the protective plastic cover over the map.  $1,125

 Abraham Ortelius, 1574, Hollandiae Antiqvorvm Catthorvmsedis Voca Descriptio.  The Map we are offering is in original hand color, about 13 3/4 by 19  inches.  This is a very handsome map of Holland which includes a large decorative strap-work title cartouche, four large sailing ships, a large royal crest, and a large compass rose. Very few remain. Please note that the glare on the image is due to the protective plastic cover over the map. $1,675

Abraham Ortelius, 1584, Leodiensis Dioecsis Typvs. This is a beautiful map of Lieges and vicinity and measures about 14 3/4 by 19 1/4 inches.  This is a very decorative map that includes a very handsome title cartouche in the top center of the map and a colorful table showing distances on the map.  In the top right  Luxemburg is shown, Brabant is drawn in the bottom left-hand corner, and France is located in the bottom right of the map.  Cities, important towns, forests, rivers, lakes and landforms are nicely drawn on the map.  This is an outstanding map that will be a treasure when framed.  $850

Abraham Ortelius, c. 1590, Lvtzenbvrgensis Dvcatvs Veriss Descript, uncolored, about 14 1/2 by 19 3/4 inches, A handsome map of Luxemburg with a large decorative strapwork title cartouche, which includes three figures located at lower left. The map is based on Jacques Surhon's manuscript map made in 1551. About 5875 copies of the map were printed. Very few remain $850

Abraham Ortelius, 1580, Frisia Orientalis, fully colored, about 14 3/4 by 19 1/2 inches. A handsome map of Eastern Friesland. Two figures at lower left above a scale. Title in a strapwork "bar" at top center, small inset map at lower right with decorative strapwork surround including five figures. Based on a manuscript map by Jan Bloemmaerts or Johannes Florianus. About 3150 were originally printed. Few remain. $675


Abraham Ortelius, 1584, Leodiensis Diocesis Typvs, Beautifully hand-colored and measures about 14 3/4 by 19 1/2 inches. This is a very handsome map of Belgium. The title cartouche is located at the top of the map and is surrounded by outstanding, intricate strap-work.  There is also an interesting scale bordered by bold strap-work.  The map is very detailed and includes rivers, lakes, cities, important towns and landforms.  Only 1,375 engravings of this map were printed.  $850

Abraham Ortelius, c.1624, Belgii Veteris Typvs. Fully colored and measures about 15 by 19 1/4 inches. A very handsome map of ancient Belgium, which includes northern France and is bordered by Germany. The map has four attractive cartouches.  In the top right-hand corner is a beautiful oval cartouche which provides information about the map including the name of the cartographer, Ortelius.  This is an exceptionally fine cartouche with very intricate strap-work.  In the upper left-hand corner is the title cartouche.  It is bordered by bold strap-work and the title and other information is written in attractive calligraphy.  The third cartouche provides the date, 1594, when the plate was created and is surrounded by elegant strap-work.  The fourth cartouche is located in the bottom right-hand corner, and also is bordered by  handsome strap-work.  The map also has a compass. Towns, cities, ports, rivers, lakes, and forests are beautifully detailed throughout the map. 

Notably, Ortelius mentions that one of the sources for peoples and names in this map, is cited as Caesar. $675


Jan Jansson, c.16350, Patriae Antiquae inter uily et Caroli Magni (Ancient Holland and Belgium).   Attractive full color, about 15 by 18 with wide additional margins.  Includes a title cartouche and another with a dedication.  A compass rose completes the decorative elements.  A vertical separation at center fold of 3 1/2 inches by 1/8 inch.  Otherwise a decorative map historical map in excellent condition.   $400

Attractive outline color, about 15 by 20 1/2 inches on a page measuring 19 3/4 by 23 1/4.  This is a very decorative map that is in excellent condition.  The map includes the cities of Amersfoort, Zutphen, Doesburg, Seventer, Arnhem, Campen and Rhenen.  $400

Covers a region around the Meuse river which extends from Charlmont to Ruremonde with Liege at center. Shows the Provinces of Namur, Hasbain, Liege, Limburg, Franchimont, Condroz and Iuliers. Nicely detailed showing forests, landforms, cities and towns. $250

A handsome map of Belgium.   Provides excellent information about cities, towns, rivers and mountains.  Includes a decorative title cartouche and a set of scales. A wonderful map in original condition for the serious collector and decorator. $175

Robert du Vaugondy, (1753) 1757, Carte du Duche de Luxembourg. Outline color, about 19 by 23 inches. A handsome map of Luxemburg with the city of Luxembourg at lower center. Provides excellent information about cities, towns, rivers and mountains. Separate large scale maps of this subject matter are not readily available. Includes a decorative title cartouche and a set of scales. A wonderful map in original condition for the serious collector and decorator. $350

 William Faden, 1789, A Map of the Austrian Possessions in the Netherlands of Low Countries. (Belgium and Luxemburg). Full color, about 20 1/2 by 26 inches. A large scale, very detailed map of Belgium and Luxemburg.  The title is across the top and a set of scales are along the bottom.  Some overall very light toning. imposing and nice.   $225

  Laurie and Whittle, 1794, Seat of War in the Seven United Provinces (Holland). Full color, about 16 by 24 inches. A large scale, very detailed map of Holland, with two cartouches. Some overall browning and minor transference. Nice, with a large decorative title cartouche and another scale cartouche. $225

 Rigobert Bonne, 1780, Carte de la Hollande.  Uncolored, about 8 1/2 by 12 3/4,  A smaller copper plate engraving on rag paper.  A nicely detailed early map of Holland showing the large amount of water before the extensive dyke system was completed.  The title is at top left with a set of scales.  Nice.   $75


 Dr. Playfairs, 1821, The Netherlands. (Belgium and Luxemburg). Full color, about 18 by 20 1/2 inches.  A large scale, very detailed map of Belgium and Luxemburg.  The title is at bottom left with a set of scales.  Nice.   $125


S.D.U.K. (Society for the Diffusion of Useful knowledge), 1832,  Antwerp. A fine uncolored lithograph, about 12 by 15 inches.  The city plan is finely engraved and very detailed showing streets, houses, fortifications,  roads and landforms.   The decorative detail includes a small inset view of the city at the top, a view of 11 important buildings along the bottom, and  an inset of the city and vicinity at center left.  City plans by S.D.U.K. are considered to be extremely accurate for their time.  $95


John Tallis. 1860, Belgium. Uncolored, about 10 by 13 1/4 inches. Tallis maps are among the best known and most popular antique maps, based on their decorative design, ornamental borders and vignette views. A nicely detailed Country map with excellent detail, including an armorial shield and four vignettes of local Belgium scenes. Decorative and handsome. $95
