Abraham Ortelius, 1612, Caribbean.  Original hand color, about 14 1/8 by 19 5/8 inches on a page measuring 18 by 21 1/4. One of the earliest rendiitions of Cuba and the West Indies including northern Mexico, still available today.  This is a map of the America's  from the first recognized atlas to be sold commercially to the general public.  It is attractively hand colored.  The map is nicely decorative and shows many interesting features.   There are estimated to be less than 300 copies from this edition in circulation. Johnson, c.1864, Cuba. Handsome in hand color, about 19 by 22 inches. This incredible map shows Cuba as it was prior to the outbreak of widespread civil unrest in the 1870s (which eventually led to the Spanish-American War). The islands' coastal features, mountains, roads and rail lines are shown in detail, as are the cities and towns on Cuba, Jamaica and "Porto" Rico (in inset). Also shown in inset is the city of Havana. This is a rare and fascinating snapshot of the Caribbean islands about 140 years ago.  Includes a decorative border.  Different editions have a slightly different decorative border.  $185

Samuel Augustus Mitchell, c.1864 Mexico, Central America & the West Indies. Handsome in full color, about 13 by 21 inches. This is a very handsome map of the lower half of the United States, the Entire Central America and the West Indies.  The map shows rivers, mountains, cities, and railway lines.  The map also includes a large inset of the Island of Cuba.  Mitchell's maps from this series are some of the more attractive maps from this period, this map is enhanced with a decorative "garland" of flowers which provides a handsome border, making this an especially attractive map.  Different editions have a slightly different decorative border.  $150


George Cram.  c. 894, Cuba. Colored, about 12 3/4 by 21 inches. A provincial map with each province separately colored. Includes an inset of the Province of Havana.  The map is very detailed and show topography, rivers, towns and cities. Includes a table on the right margin detailing by province the chief cities.  $50


Rand McNally, c.1898, Cuba. Colored, about 12 1/4 by 19 1/4 inches. A provincial map with each province separately colored. Includes five insets, The largest "Map of Havana Harbor", which is a street map (names them), locates and identifies important buildings, shows the rails, and roads. Then small maps of the "Port Matanzas" (and vicinity), "Cardenas and Santa Clara Bays", "Port of Cienfuegos" (and vicinity), and "Port of Santiago De Cuba" (and vicinity). All the maps are very detailed and show topography, rivers, towns and cities. Includes a table on the left and right margin detailing points of interest, provinces and towns.  $50

    Matthew Northrup's Century Atlas, c. 1897, Cuba (Haiti, Jamaica and Trinidad). Printed color, about 10 1/2 by 15 inches. A very fine "modern" looking map with a "piano key" border. Includes a large map of Cuba and a large inset of Haiti and San Domingo, with a small inset of Trinidad, Havana and Santiago de Cuba. The map depicts landforms, roads, cities and towns. $45
