Abraham Ortelius, 1612, Caribbean. Original hand color, about 14 1/8 by 19 5/8 inches on a page measuring 18 by 21 1/4. One of the earliest rendiitions of the West Indies including northern Mexico, still available today. This is a map of the America's from the first recognized atlas to be sold commercially to the general public. It is attractively hand colored. The map is nicely decorative and shows many interesting features. There are estimated to be less than 300 copies from this edition in circulation. John Tallis, 1850, West India Islands. Some outline color, about 13 by 9 1/2 inches. Shows all of the Caribbean Islands including the tip of Florida and the north part of South America. Tallis maps are sought after by collectors due to their accuracy, ornamental borders and vignette views. This map is no exception with four vignettes. Excellent detail of the islands, counties, cities, towns and landforms. $225
J. H. Colton & Co. 1867, West Indies. Colored, about 12 1/2 by 15 inches. This is a wonderful, handsomely colored county map of the West Indies and Central America. The excellence and popularity of Colton's work was such that the maps were widely used and each edition contained the most "contemporary" knowledge available at that time. Thus, these maps are wonderful historical markers for events that were taking place at that time. $225

Samuel Augustus Mitchell, c.1864, Mexico, Central America & the West Indies. Handsome in full color, about 13 by 21 inches. This is a very handsome map of the lower half of the United States, the Entire Central America and the West Indies. The map shows rivers, mountains, cities, and railway lines. The map also includes a large inset of the island of Cuba. Mitchell's maps from this series are some of the more attractive maps from this period, this map is enhanced with a decorative "garland" of flowers which provides a handsome border, making this an especially attractive map. Different editions have a slightly different decorative border. $195
