Abraham Ortelius, 1570, Indiae Orientalis. Original color and measuring about 13 3/4 x 19 1/2 inches. A beautiful map of South East Asia. The map shows Japan, South East Asia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Guinea, and North Western North America. This is a very decorative Ortelius map with a ship wreck, mermaids and an attractive cartouche. The map is in excellent condition. $5000
Jacques Nicolas Bellin, 1745, Carte de L'Isle Celebes ou Macasar. Uncolored, about 8 by 5 3/4 inches. A detailed early map of the Celebes Island, which is quite misshaped, but never-the-less delightful. Shows settlements, landforms and names the regions. A well detailed and handsome map. $45
John Tallis, 1850, Malay Archipelago, or East India Islands. Some outline color. About 9 3/4 by 13 inches. One of the best portrayals of this region comprising of Siam, Indo-China, Philippines and the Indonesian islands. Tallis' maps are some of the best known and one of the most desirable of maps. This is due to the very decorative borders, vignette views, and the fact that these maps were one of the last that were engraved on steel. This map is no exception and includes four vignette views which surround the map. Handsome with good detail of cities, towns and landforms. $175
