Abraham Ortelius, 1612, Alexandri Magni Macedonis Expeditio. Original hand color, measuring about 14 1/4 by 18 1/4 inches in perfect condition. A map showing the voyages of Alexander the Great throughout the Middle East. The inset shows the oracle of Jupiter Amman, supposedly located in present day Libya, where Alexander went to ask what the result of his expedition would be. He also expressed a desire to be buried there, but was buried in Alexandria in Egypt. This is a wonderful map that beautifully depicts the regions and territories Alexander conquered. $1,200 Please note that the glare on the image is due to the protective plastic cover over the map.
Abraham Ortelius, Geographia Sacra, c.1612. The map measures about 14 by 19 and is in later hand color. The map is very decorative and shows a very interesting view of Southern Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East. There are estimated to be less than 60 copies in circulation. This is a beautiful map that will be very handsome when framed. $1,500

A very handsome map of the Syria showing provinces as they were in the 1700s and including an inset of medallions. The map nicely details rivers, mountains, and cities. covering the Eastern part of Mediterranean showing Egypt, Turkey and the Holy
Land. The map shows landforms, cities and important towns. The
discoloration shown on the map is due to our scanner. The map is not

Samuel Augustus Mitchell, 1860, Map of Persia, Turkey in Asia,
Afghanistan, Beloochistan. Colored, about 10 1/2 by 13 1/4 inches. A detailed map
covering these countries and the Transcaucasia as well as a small inset of the Holy land.
The map shows landforms, cities and towns. Also includes a decorative "flower"
border surrounding the map. Different editions have a slightly different
decorative border. $85

A. J. Johnson, c.1866, Turkey in Asia. Original bold hand color, about 11 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches. While the map depicts Persia, Afghanistan, and Beloochistan, Arabia is the focus in the center of the map. Includes rivers, lakes, oceans, landforms, cities, towns and a very attractive border. Different editions have slightly different decorative borders. The early editions include several vignettes around the map. This is a very attractive map in excellent conditions. $65
