    Abraham Ortelius, 1574, Tvrcici Imperii Descriptio. Original color, about 12 by 19 1/4 inches. A very handsome map of the Turkish Empire which includes a large, very decorative cartouche and several ships on the sea. The map extends from Austria, the Caspian Sea, North Africa, Arabia to the Horn of Africa. Excellent detail of cities, towns, rivers, mountains and settlements. The map is based on Gastaldi's 1561 map of the region and information from ancient writers. 5625 of these maps were published of which few remain. $2225

Brion-Desnos, 1766, Perse, Turquie Asiatique Et Arabie. Original hand color, about 9 by 10 1/4 inches. This nicely detailed map covers the middle east but the focus is clearly Arabia.  It depicts important cities and towns, mountains, rivers, lakes, and oceans as known in the mid-1700s. There is an attractive title cartouche in the lower left corner. Excellent condition.  $225

Laurie & Whittle, 1794, Arabia According to it's Modern Divisions. Original outline color, about 12 by 17 1/4 inches. This nicely detailed map depicts important cities and towns, mountains, rivers, lakes, and oceans as known in the late-1700s. Maps which just show Arabia are uncommon.  $295

(The map has no pink hue at all.  The map color is uniformly slightly off-white, crisp, clear and clean)

A. J. Johnson, c.1866, Arabia. Original bold hand color, about 11 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches. While the map depicts Persia, Afghanistan, and Beloochistan, Arabia is the fucus in the center of the map. Includes rivers, lakes, oceans, landforms,  cities, towns and a very attractive border. Different editions have slightly different decorative borders.  The early editions include several vignettes around the map.  This is a very attractive map in excellent conditions.  $65

Matthew Northrup's Century Atlas, c.1900, Arabia. Printed color, about 10 1/2 by 15 inches. Includes an attractive "piano keyboard" type border.  The map depicts landforms, including contours showing elevations above sea level. Includes counties,  cities and towns.  It has several insets including the Holy Land.  A map known for its attention to detail and accuracy.  A map of choice for many collectors.  $45
