A map of the east coast of Africa and the central area, extending from the "Horn" of Africa to Cape town. Shows coastal information and adjoining islands. Shows cities, towns, mountains, rivers, roads, and other early information. An excellent early portrayal of the area.  A handsome large cartouche is included.   $165

Rigobert Bonne, 1780, Carte du Canal de Mosambique, continant l'Isle de Madagascar avec les cotes d'Afrique, depuis le Cap de Bonne Esparance jusqu'a Melinda. Uncolored, about 8 1/2 by 12 3/4 inches. A map that extends from the Cape Town vicinity area up to Zanzibar, showing the total south east African coastal area. A large inset of Cape Town/Table Bay extending to Malmesbury is included. This is in essence a map of South Africa and particularly the "Cape" area. Shows known countries towns, cities, and landforms. Unusual.  Title is in a box, which is typical of Bonne's maps.  $150

Uncolored, about 14 1/2 by 8 1/4 inches.  A nautical chart of Port Elizabeth and vicinity in the Eastern Cape Province of  South Africa, showing the city, which is indicated by a few dots which represent buildings, the harbor, Algoa Bay including Bird Island.  Provides a compass and shows depth soundings.   A scarce map.    $50

Matthew Northrup's Century Atlas, c. 1897, Central Africa. Printed color, about 15 by 10 1/2 inches. Includes Portuguese West Africa (Angola), Congo Free State, French Congo, British Central and South Africa (North and South Rhodesia), State of East Africa  (Mozambique), British Central Africa, German East Africa, and British East Africa.  A very fine "modern" looking map with a "piano key" border. A political map which shows Africa at a stage where the colonial structure is well entrenched. Depicts landforms, roads, cities and towns. Includes a very detailed inset of MadagascarA map known for its attention to detail and accuracy.  A map of choice for many collectors.  $45
