Abraham Ortelius, 1602, Aegyptus AntiqusFully colored and measures about 14 by 20 1/4 inches.  This is a very handsome map of ancient Egypt.  It has wonderful early detail of mountains & rivers, cities, & towns.  It includes a very nice inset of Alexandria.  Very nice map in excellent condition  $1500

Abraham Ortelius, 1612, Barbariae Et Biledvlgerid Nova Descriptio. Fully colored, about 13 by 9 1/2 inches. This is a very handsome map of Northern Africa.  It has wonderful early detail of settlements, mountains & rivers, cities & towns.  The map includes two large sea monsters, and a very large sailing ship on a stippled sea. $595

Abraham Ortelius, 1624, Africae Propriae Tabvla.  Beautifully colored and measures about 13 by 19 1/4 inches. This is a very attractive map of northern Africa that depicts the coastal region from western Algeria to eastern Egypt.  It was drawn by one of the most recognized of the early cartographer's and is one of his most handsome renderings.  The detail is excellent showing towns, cities, rivers and landforms. There are many decorations on this map.  They include two wonderful cartouches.  The top cartouche is very large and provides the title of the map in beautiful calligraphy and is surrounded by bold strap-work and detailed illustrations.  In the bottom of the map is another very interesting cartouche that provides the names of uncertain locations in four columns.  It is bordered by attractive strap-work which includes illustrations of African animals.  This map also includes a very interesting and detailed circular inset of Sinus Carthaginensis.  There were only 3,700 sheets of this map printed.  Bertius bought a number of sheets and included the map in his historical atlas.  There are many beautiful features within this map.  It will be outstanding when framed.  $850

Homann Heirs, 1728, Morraca Norum. Original handsome color and measuring about 19 by 22 inches. This is a well detailed  map of Morocco showing the internal political boundaries. The map includes a large and beautiful cartouche and two beautiful, large  insets of the city of Marocco and the city of Mequinetz. Very handsome and boldly printed.  $695

Homann Heirs, 1743, Coast of Guinea. Original bright, crisp color and measuring about 19 by 22 inches. This is a well detailed  map of the Coast of Guinea, stretching from modern day Nigeria to Senegal and including a large portion of Sahara desert.  The map includes a beautiful large vignette of a village in the lower left of the map. Very handsome and boldly printed.   $625

Mathews Northrup's Century Atlas, 1897, Africa: North West Part. Printed color, about 15 by 10 1/2 inches. A map that extends from Tunisia, to the Cameroon's, including the Sahara desert. Very detailed, showing political boundaries, landforms, and towns and cities.  Routes through the desert are also indicated. A map known for its attention to detail and accuracy.  A map of choice for many collectors.    $45

Nicely detailed showing towns and cities, and landforms.  Also includes a table on the right of the map of  chief cities.  The technology used to develop these maps was so advanced that they at once made all competitors maps obsolete. $30
